Writing Practice 01 - Lunar Wish and the Phantom

Her bat-like wings flapping in the dim light, Lunar Wish makes her way through the swamp. She is a unicorn with a mark of a book and a bat. Her body is red hair with a purple spade tail and wings, green at the tip. Her hooves would gather mud as she walks, “This is the place then…” she says as she steps up to the door, giving it a knock. The bugs around would quiet, as the door creaks open. “Uh, hello?” she asks, before stepping inside.

Inside, she would light up her horn to see, taking a look around. The room would have broken furniture, dust everywhere, but also seeming lived in… she would make her way through the room, and down the hallway. “This isn’t so spooky.” She scoffs, looking around and back, noticing the mud she’s tracked in.

At the end of the hallway is a bedroom, as she steps inside the door closes behind her. “Hey there!” she would hear from in front of her, as her head turns to look at the door… Looking forward she sees a violet creature, a cat-like phantom. “Sorry I didn’t answer the door, good to see you’re eager to join me!” she giggles.

Lunar steps back, “Join you?” she questions. The phantom nods, “Of course, the name’s Chivi. And you’re looking for me aren’t ya?” she asks. Lunar nods. “Yes, hello… Chivi. You are correct, I’ve come to see you. You see the fireflies think you are er…” Chivi would chuckle, “A nuisance? I get that a lot yes. But you don’t have much room to talk, at least I don’t go into people’s houses uninvited…” she comments.

The unicorn looks away, “Beside the point, I’ve come to capture you.” She says, as she does she would point her horn to the floor, creating a circle. Chivi would fly outside of it, “Hey now, if you wanted a makeover…” she grins, grabbing the mare’s hair with her shadowy hand, turning it blonde and chopping it off below her shoulders.

Lunar gasps, and lunges at the phantom, biting at her, then kicking. “OW! Hey play nice...” she whines, throwing the unicorn to the floor. She would fly down behind her, pushing her into the circle she laid out. “Just for that…” She chuckles as the mare is enveloped in leather by the seal. “You’re going to have a lot of fun…” she says as the leather covers her eyes, left unable to see, or hear.

Waking up, Lunar would look around, “What happened?” she asks, looking downward she would  become fearful, “Oh no…” she says as she notices her webbed feet, running clumsily through the mud until she falls on her face. “Rib-bit…” she lets out, crawling up to the clearer water ahead. Looking in it she would see her new form, a pink and purple frog, with her cutie mark on her back. She curses.

“Oh come on…!” she stomps with her flipper wetly, doing so she instinctively hops upward, to a rock in this stream. Looking around her eyes would lock on a fly, her tongue shooting out to grab it… wrapping around the creature and swallowing it, disgust on her face. She would turn around, and shudder as she sees a hand-written sign. “Dear Lunar, you will return to your old self after eating a million flies. Happy Hunting! Love, Chivi.”
